Calabar City, also referred to as 'Canaan City' is the capital of Cross River State. The city is divided into Calabar Municipal and Calabar South Local Government Areas. It has an area of 406 km² and a population of 371,022 according to the 2006 census.
This has become very popular as every year people from all over the world gather to have fun in Calabar, Cross River State. Calabar carnival 2011 was a great success featuring five bands competing for a trophy, this happens every 26th day of december.
